Moving home

Just bought a home?
Move in safe.

Buying a house — especially your first — is exciting, but you rarely know how the gas and heating have been looked after. A few simple checks mean you move in safe, warm and without nasty surprises. We cover the gas side across Chorley, Coppull and the North West, and work with JRM Compliance for your electrics.

What to check

Your new-home
safety list.

The handful of checks worth doing when you take on a new home — we sort the gas, and point you to JRM for the electrics.

Gas safety check

When you buy a home you rarely know when the gas appliances were last checked. A gas safety inspection confirms the boiler, cooker and any gas fire are burning safely, at the right pressure and venting properly — so you're not inheriting a hidden problem.

Boiler service

A full service tells you the condition of the boiler you've just taken on, keeps it running efficiently through your first winter, and starts your own service history. If the previous owner's records are missing, this gives you a clean baseline.

Carbon monoxide & smoke alarms

Moving in is the perfect time to make sure there's a working carbon monoxide alarm near every gas appliance and a smoke alarm on every floor. We can supply, fit and test them while we're there.

Electrical safety (via JRM Compliance)

Gas is our side of it, but a new home deserves an electrical check too. We work alongside our sister company JRM Compliance, who handle EICR electrical inspections — so between us your new home's gas and electrics are covered.

Good to know

New-homeowner
questions.

What safety checks should I get when buying a house?

At minimum, a gas safety check on the boiler and any gas appliances, a boiler service to confirm its condition, and working carbon monoxide and smoke alarms. An electrical installation condition report (EICR) is also well worth having — our sister company JRM Compliance can carry that out.

Do I need a gas safety check when I buy a home?

It isn't legally required for owner-occupiers (unlike rentals), but it's strongly recommended. You usually have no record of when the gas appliances were last checked, so an inspection gives you peace of mind that everything is safe before you settle in.

Can you check the boiler and electrics together?

We cover all the gas and heating side ourselves, and we work with JRM Compliance for the electrical inspection (EICR). Get in touch and we'll help coordinate both so your new home is fully checked.

I'm a first-time buyer — where do I start?

Book a gas safety check and boiler service for shortly after you move in. We'll tell you plainly what condition everything's in, sort any CO and smoke alarms, and flag if an electrical check is worth arranging through JRM Compliance.
